Brand Profile: 'Signature Clothing'

As part of our mission to promote UK board sports we seek out the best brands to talk about the ups and downs of riding in Britain. Our Brand Profile series sees us talking to Signature Clothing this week. We caught up with founder Tom Sivyour to get the lowdown on this rad British skate company and an idea of his unique take on the UK scene...

TVSC: Hey Tom, can you please give us an overview on when, how, where and why Signature began?
Tom Sivyour: Started the idea of Signature Clothing in early 2011, after dropping out of college and wanting to do something creative on my own. Basically fed up of education. It wasn't at all a brand back then, but the word was still spreading. Then about late 2012 I started understanding the industry a bit more and things got a bit more official. I'd honestly only say its this year, 2015, that the brand has become something legit that I'm happy with. Shout out to all of the team and anyone who supported the idea before now!
TVSC: Who is on the management team, and what are their backgrounds?
Tom: As far as running the brand, it's all me. I get a good friend to finish up designs and help with certain files etc, his name is Will Chiu and he's a graphic design student, big things to come from him in the future, he kills it.
TVSC: What is the company ethos?
Tom: Its a clothing brand/company with a core skateboarding aesthetic. I run it like a skate team, a family. Everyone involved skateboards, truly 100% skater owned and operated!
TVSC: What sets you apart from your competitors?
Tom: Originality is hard to maintain today, but I think the team makes the team unique. We all get on and the main focus is quality garments and having fun. Simple. Its Crewd Livin!

TVSC: What do you most enjoy about skating in the UK ? And most dislike?
TVSC: How do you support UK athletes and the wider skate community? Which athletes do you currently have on your pro team?
Tom: Dont have a 'pro team'. Just a main team and then flow riders, although Jak Tonge is Pro on Drawing Boards. The current team is: Lloyd Mcleggon, Jak Tonge, Nick Munday, Alex Thornhill. And the flow units are Jack White, Dobbo and Harvey Clements.
TVSC team pick: Mach Peak Logo Hoodie, £55. Available now at www.TVSC.co
TVSC: Where are you manufacturing your products?
Tom: Product manufacturing takes place mainly in the South of Wales, and at the moment headwear is Vietnam. Everything is ethically produced to the highest quality.
TVSC: What do you see for the future of your company?
Tom: Just gonna keep expanding and growing the brand. We wanna focus on trips and putting out some more solid media. Keep the kids stoked, they matter the most. I'll solely focus on core skate shops as stockists (my day job is working at Bored Of Southsea, so I understand the importance of supporting skateboard stores) and just keeping everything flowing. Can't wait to get some cut n sew products out there. Details and uniqueness are my favourite things about running your own brand.
TVSC: What do you see for the future of the industry in the UK?
Tom: The future: Sports companies presence within skateboarding will die out will die out. Inpedendence will prevail. Skater owned and operated forever, how it all started, how it should be.
TVSC: Where can we check out your videos/stuff?
